That's hilarious....and beyond entirely wrong. The Founders very specific intent was to make certain no future government would have more firepower than the average citizens. You know...to avoid another war against tyranny like the one they'd just fought and won, at great cost. Or if not to avoid...to win again. Come on...you are smarter than that.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you meant semi automatic weapons since as you’ve seen in the previous several responses that fully auto weapons are few and far between in this civilian world. Your argument then falls into the why category. Why shouldn’t someone have the ability to have a weapon that’s easy to shoot, has a decent chance of stopping a threat and has the capability of holding enough ammunition to allow for a lot of adrenaline misses? It’s not a weapon of war though it is the predecessor to several. You know what is though, the venerable Colt 1911A1, it’s been in every military dust up in the last hundred years without much in the way of changes, it’ll put a fist size hole in a body and will hold more bullets than a Maryland safe “assault“ weapon.
I remember in school being taught about the three great races. There was the negroid, the caucusoid and the mongoloid.
You have to remember that when the constitution was written all of these people had just won a war against the superpower of its day on just those grounds. The British were disarming the colonials and quartering their soldiers in their homes to keep everyone in line. Do you think they had any intentions of stopping at just that point? They had privately owned cannons ( and falconets and culverins and minions and sakers…) and warships to mount them on.

I am happy for people to have access to muskets and flintlock pistols (or the updated equivalent) because it just seems crazy that anyone can get a weapon capable of killing masses of people and it should be harder to get those more advanced weapons. People should NOT have that much firepower available which has ruined the lives of SO MANY FAMILIES as a sacrifice so we can be armed.
Today's firearms are the updated equivalent.

None of my firearms have ever run out and ruined anyone's lives. Nor have any of the firearms owned by any of my friends. Where do you come up with this stuff?
