Are you aware the fuse-time may vary from bomb to bomb. A bomber may use a very short fuse and wait until a half-second is left before tossing it at you. So you have about 1 second to:

See the device.
Identify the device.
Realize the danger of the device.
Get from your seat across the room to the bomb.
Find the fuse.
Yank it, snuff it, or ditch it.

In all likelihood your brains will be scattered in with your textbook pages before you start moving from your seat.


On the other hand, in a world without ... well, without people like you ... you would have about 1 second to:

See the gunman at the door.
Realize this person is armed.
Recognize the threat.
Knock your desk over for cover.
Reach toward your own weapon.
Smoke his ass.



NOW ask me which situation I'd rather be in.



Hint: Cover will stop bullets. Guess what it won't do in the other situation.

We need a background check on every firearms purchase, and stop selling firearms to non citizens.

Simple question:

What would you change about gun purchase laws that would have prevented him from buying one?

1) He was legal
2) He had no felonies
3) He appeared normal during purchase (per description of gun store owner, "clean cut college kid")
4) He had no outstanding warrants or criminal history
5) It was a normal hand gun for self defense... not an assault weapon.

So... What additional checks would you have instituted that would have prevented this?

I haven't done anything wrong and will not, they can watch me all they want they will just get bored. So I think I should be able to own any gun I want since I am not going to use it for a crime.

Exactly how many US citizens have been held for years without charging them with a crime? One, two? These people associated themselves with those "at war" with the United States.

The military has been using bombs since they were invented - ever see the Shock and Awe video? And I highly doubt cops are going to start lobbing bombs to stop some getaway car.

You haven't given me enough information to answer the question. I would rather face neither but a homicidal maniac is not going to be stopped by laws or bans.

There are no "degrees of dead", "pipe bomb dead" is exactly as dead as "9mm dead" and just as dead as #2 pencil through the temple" dead.

And the bomb maker is too stupid to build his bomb where you can't pull out the fuse... and if using time fuse you can't put it out.. you can't blow it out, you can't dump it in water.. the only thing you can do is cut it between where it is burning and the bomb.. AND it's burning well ahead of where the evidence of the burn is on the fuse.. AND the fuse is probably less then an inch long before he throws it..

Yeah, I would take the guy with the gun. A man with a gun has to be able to see you when he shoots you, that mean you can see him and shoot back, or find cover/concealment. A pipe bomber leaves his bomb and runs. Being in the military, I will take the shooter over an IED any day.
