Police Officers Acquitted

I've got the solution. We put them all into a giant room and whichever group comes out alive gets shipped out. That way we only have to make one trip.

Use the GITMO solution: pack 'em ALL up and drop them off half way. Somewhere south of the Azores will do nicely.

Oh, for the rest, look up hi-capacity magazines and something called a "combat reload".

...that's fantastic! Secretary of State for you! How about we keep the 'winners' to hold signs for live fire drills; some get a sign that says "Good Guy" some get a sign that says "Bad guy"...

:highfive:

Waste not want not.

Okay but why waste money on "good guy" signs?

How were they supposed to know that? If they knew that, why do you think they should have fired warning shots?

Police should damn well KNOW if someone is armed or not before firing off 50+ rounds.

They could wait to see the gun.

I mean come on. Any person stopped for any traffic violation could have a gun ....

...there. They are not trained to deal with these situations very effectively.

Define...

well yeah, but that's hardly an excuse.

...excuse. If you and I are trying to get a group of people, at night, at a bar, to stand up and be interogated and one of us freaks and thinks a weapon is being pulled and starts shooting and we're just not very practiced at this sort of thing, well...

Excuse? Reason? They were acquitted. So, there's more to it, right?

...people would be shocked to learn just how little training many cops get with their weapons. As a result, officers tend to be horrible shots and, as this case illustrates, they aren't trained very well on how to control themselves or their weapons in tense situations. Departments are at fault here. This is ridiculous.

On the other handwas the guy, a cop killer I think, in the South who was finally cornered and shot like 150 some odd times and when the sheriff was asked why they shot him 150 times by a reporter he said "Because we ran out of bullets."

I don't believe that is always the case. For the most part law enforcement down here uses the range at pax river and they have a certain criteria that they have to meet to be able to carry a weapon. At least that is my understanding.

Most patrol cops are required to qual once a year on courses that are mostly a joke, unless they are on some tactical team or something. Not saying that some cops are not good shots but to most cops their gun is just a tool and they really don't have interest in guns beyond that.

This might piss some people off but I know for a fact that some cops get babied on there handgun qual courses because they need to meet certain quotas, i.e women. Again not saying that women can't be good shots but alot struggle.

As a side note a magazine and a clip are two different things. Clips are for certain rifles such as the M1 Garand, magazines are used in automatic handguns and rifes such as the ar-15/ m-16.

One of the major reasons a lot of women struggle is due to the department bean counters insistence on everyone carrying the same type of firearm. Because of "bulk" discounts departments will only purchase and furnish one type of weapon. And a lot of times a woman's hand is too small for the grip.
I understand the need to monitor and control the purse strings, but there have to be times when common sense HAS to prevail.

...type 92 Barretas don't fit ANYONE'S hands well! 1911's for everybody says I! I'm a fairly big person and my 92 is a handful. My 1911 just fits so nice.

Well, you're wrong. It amazes me that you bash police and police departments when you are one yourself. You come on here and either lie to people or are so uneducated, spout out about things you don't know. Why don't you check with your surrounding jurisdictions to see if people carry the same firearm? At least one other jurisdiction in Southern Maryland is a bit more progressive, and does supply firearms to fit the shooter. Also, at least one other jurisdiction in Southern Maryland does have alternate training, such as moving fire, firing after building adrenalin, and transition drills.

That's true for a lot of agencies, however some are a bit more progressive. My agency has everyone qualify once a year, however we are required to do additional training drills with other than static targets.

You are so stupid. I cannot debate with someone with such a small brain capacity any longer. Have a nice weekend. :howdy:

This is you modus operandi isn’t it? You start a debate with someone when you have little facts or knowledge of the subject, then when you are proven wrong you resort to name calling and running away from the argument instead of just admitting you’re wrong. This really points out your maturity level. I see why you and Don are on the same page. MMDad proved you wrong but you just can't have an intelligent discourse.

...would you say that training is essential, beneficial and should be mandatory and regular for folks who are in the line of duty every day?
