Mine died like right before Bill was in the accident..weird ha?? Let me check to see if she is still there and I will let you know...

Todays UPDATE...all is the same..only responsive to painful stimuli and on the vent..

Please contact Coma Emergence at University Specialty Hospital in Baltimore. I know that you want your husband local so that you can see him more often, but if he is responding to pain stimuli then there is hope. I've been going through this with my family because of my aunt's accident for the past 9 months. The doctors are now saying that there is no hope. So, she's being transferred to St. Mary's Nursing Center on Monday. This is not the place for those that have hope. My aunt has been in 4 different places. USH is the only place that I would recommend. They have rehab there. They work on bringing someone out of a coma. SMNC does not. They do not specialize in coma care. They are just there to change bedpans, sponge bathe, and medicate. I realize that Baltimore is a long haul for you but I would trust their care enough to not need to travel up there every day. They will update you on his care anytime you call.
I'm sorry if I seem the slightest bit harsh, but I tossed and turned last night thinking about this. If anything, please just give them a call to get info. (410)328-8680. :huggy:

I looked more closely at the picture. The fender shouldn't have come unbolted like that from the accident itself. It is quite possible it was the cause of the accident if it came disconnected from the frame and dropped onto the rear tire. I would have thought that if that had happened though, that the tire would have spun it out completely. I have been riding bikes for 30 years, including hardtail choppers and have never seen or heard of that happening before. Let us know what the accident report claims the cause was. Good luck.

pics 5 and 7 show the paint ground off of the fender where if it swung down between the rubber and the road it would have been rubbing on the road. looks like the cause to me.

will definately be in my prayers.

:yeahthat:

Is there some significance to this? Did she say one way or another?

No she did not say..she said ideally he will only be there for another 7-10 days then he has to leave that facility and go somewhere else...they are having someone meet with me on rehab information. Do they try to rehab peeps if they are not awake yet??

From what I can remember, usually those are pin-pricks or electrical impulse tests at the extremities to see if the nerves are responding to the brain. If he is responding it is a good sign. :yay: My brother was not responding to any stimuli, that was part of the test to indicate he was brain dead. :frown:

They can do rehab on a person in a coma - manually moving limbs to prevent/slow down atrophy. In order to do this they have to ensure he has no spinal injuries, but he has probably been cleared of that if they are planning on moving him.

Keep us updated and good luck. :huggy:
