Stray Friendly Young Boxer - HELP PLEASE

ArkRescue

Adopt me please !
I put an ad on Craig's List (So. MD) looking for a foster/adopter for Boxy. If he does have a human out there that lost him, I'm sorry, but I did what I could to find them. I keep being reminded by people that had he ended up at the shelter, he would have either been adopted or put down long before now. So me holding out trying find his "people" is great and well-meaning, but how long this go on? Sadly my dog was growling at Boxy, so I know there's no hope of a peaceful coexistence between those 2.

Boxy has a right to be in a stable, loving home. He's going to miss me and I am going to miss him too. It's time for him to make the transition to what I hope will be his permanent home.

I think it best for Boxy to be placed as a "foster" pending adoption. That way there can be a 30-60 day trial to see if it works out. I'm hoping that Catt will be available to help screen possible adopters so we can be sure he gets the best chance at a happy life. Boxy is such a cool dog, and I know whoever gets him will realize just how special he is, one eye and all.

Arc, try placing an ad on petfinder.com too.

Every time I have used Petfinder I get lots of emails from scammers and have never placed a critter that way - not sure why I never get any legitimate emails from ads there?

We need to be very particular with Boxy.

I just received an email from a lady who says she had a Boxer female from age 2 to 10 (dog's age) that died of a brain tumor. So we are just going back and forth now to see what kind of lifestyle she has, and I am telling her more about Boxy. This will be a process to find the right home for him, and it won't be a quick one either. The right person/family will be willing to wait through the process.

Boxers remind me of Rotties in some ways, and neither breed is for everyone that's for sure.

After 2 months of the cat trying to eat Boxy's food, and Boxy not seeming to care about the cat near his bowl, it came to sudden and violent change yesterday.

Boxy was eating his food (had moist food stirred in) and the cat strolled over to the bowl as usual. This time Boxy exploded into ferocious sounding growling and snapping at the cat, of course the cat took off. I found the cat with only wet fur, no blood.

Had I been asked if Boxy was food aggressive with other critters, I'd have said no before yesterday. Talk about being shocked when that happened. I was like :shocking:

Perhaps it all started when you let the cat eat his food.

Perhaps it would be best to get this dog properly evaluated by a Professional Dog trainer!
Afterall , you have had him for over 2 months and have admitted to many issues and shortcomings relating to his environment and the lack of proper play, sleep, eat areas and conflicts with your collection of rescues. Dogs ARE territoral you know.:coffee:

How come whenever I read anything you write I want to punch you in your big sanctimonious head?
I think I prefer reading Lance's incomprehensible textage to your crap.

She is jealous of me, so she finds it necessary to criticize me all the time.

So don't mind her, she feels compelled to exhibit her stupidity regularly. She just can't help herself. It's really sad if you think about it. Living like that must be miserable for her.

OH No Ark, is the kitty alright? Sorry to hear that Boxy took an exception to the cat being near his food dish. I hope you're able to place Boxy in a home suitable for his temperament. I think it would be wise to place him with someone who has experience with Boxers. Keep up the good work and dont let this get you down. Boxy appreciates it I'm sure.

Kitty is ok, no bite, just a warning growl apparently.

Later on Boxy was back to wanting to play with the cat again - go figure? I have had food-aggressive dogs in the past.

I doubt the cat will go near his food again. I'm just glad I was there to SEE what happened for myself as opposed to just hearing it and wondering what happened.

He's really a very sweet dog and his issues are very few (compared to other dogs). A little work and he'll be the perfect pet for someone. The cat in the past had been at his bowl BEFORE he went to it, so this time he was at his bowl when the cat strolled up, and I bet that made the difference?

He has some issues that have to be addressed. He can't just go to any Boxer lover.

Why'd you get rid of your dogs?

I was tired of the damn dog fights..Mike Vick had nothing on me...I was tired of it...Temper and Jamaca went to single dog households...well Jamaca went with a neutered male and gets along good...I also felt I had too many big dogs to lead a stress free dog life...the little ones dont fight like the big ones..

I have been focused mainly on finding his owner all this time, and just placed an ad offering him for adoption last week. I'm glad you found homes so quickly. Hopefully Boxy will get a good home soon.

Arkie,
Don't you think that after 2+ months his owners would have looked for him?
What a lame excuse for not doing right by him.

There is NO owner..he got dumped like so many other animals that end up in shelters or professional rescue groups.

Get him a real home before you do more damage to him and the rest of your collection of critters.

He deserves a real home with a yard and safe place to eat and play and relax without being bothered by other dogs or pets.

You do not know the dog or the situation and certainly need not comment on her collection of critters.

Like I said before, if you have nothing constructive to offer, shut up.
