I think that's what I'd like to see, at least. If someone were to open fire at my school, no one would know what to do. They'd run around in any direction just as Rack'm suggested.
Nah. If the gunman is part of the school community, they'd know the plan and be able to pick off as many as they wanted when everyone herded in the same direction.

That would be true if there even were a plan. I'm not so much advocating evacuation routes but survival tactics more so.

That's going to happen, regardless if there's a plan or not.

Basic instinct is self preservation.
I have to wonder if that was for the better or worse in this situation.:ohwell:

Va has great conceal carry laws. I used to carry when I lived in Richmond.

It’s too bad that federal laws prohibit where you can carry.
I don;t think it was the Fed's that said you couldn't carry on Campus or churches.. think that was the state.. Fed's don't have Jurisdiction on a State college campus.. but they can say you can't carry in Federal Courthouses, or Military bases.. etc.. BUT COngressman and Senators are allowed to be armed in the Capitol and other federal buildings.. again, those that don't want you to be able to protect yourself, have laws in place ensuring they can protect themselves.

I agree. Wonder what the gunmen would do if folks were authorized to carry concealed and a few hundred student returned fire to their position. Bet the gunmen would be running instead of shooting.

I don't think that matters. Even if you could carry a gun at school. I would be will to bet that most students wouldn't cary one.

My understanding, at least with the public schools, there is a plan - called lockdown, all teachers get the kids into the classrooms, shut and lock the doors. Maybe not the perfect plan, but it beats everybody running around getting picked off. and as long as the shooters don't make it into a classroom before it is locked (of course sooner or later the doors will have to be replaced with bullet proof doors and locks) then once the police arrives, it is a matter of picking off whoever is wandering the halls.

It would only take one to return fire and disrupt or end the wholesale slaughter.

MOSt don't have to.. if only 5% did, (or even if 0% did but the law allowed it) the criminals wouldn't look at a university campus as a slaughterhouse where they can just wantonly walk around and shoot people like sheep.

Bottom line, people hear college campus, and think a bunch of 19 year old kids going to class, and it would be senseless to arm 19 year olds.. but that's not the case, there are many veterans on campus, off duty cops.. adults LOTS of adult students and faculty, but NONE of them are allowed to carry a weapon on campus.. it's just a killing field if someone wants it to be. When I went to school in PA, I had a permit, and DID carry my gun on campus.

Just remeber, your kid could be on one of these campuses, if not today, tomorrow.
