:howdy: Please do not honk when you see me

Despite my theory that a positive speed diferential provides me an extra margin of safety in traffic, I got 44 mpg on my last tank. As the price of gas goes up, a bike becomes more afordable.

Depends on the bikes you are looking at and what you consider "not cheap".

Well for now im just looking for a 500-750 crotch rocket. Ive ridden dirt bikes (250) and some other sport bikes before and I dont think id have any problems on something <750cc.

Its just that people want an arm leg and spleen for them even used. SCREW buying brand new!

Completely different animals

A 600cc sport bike has more HP, higher top speed and more acceleration than a 2000cc cruiser

Whys that?
I'm in my "traffic zone" while riding in traffic, constantly scanning ahead, to the sides and in the mirrors. My life depends on my ability to "see" my surroundings.
I see the flows, the developing patterns and the of paths least resistance to my destination.
I see the little movements of the creatures in their isolated cocoons that will indicate their intention to change lanes.

Honk and I look for the honker

And you can't find one for cheap? Some of the top of the line ones are <$10k brand new. Used they are well under $5k. If you're looking to get a bike for a couple hundred...well, then you'll have a problem.

Thats the thing, what one person considers cheap, another person considers ridiculously overpriced. 5-6K might seem cheap to some, but to others, thats a good chunk of change.

That's why I mentioned what they considered "not cheap".

Im looking for the price to be under 4k but im really looking at some for a little over 3k.
Im REALLY not wanting a cruiser because I think they are ugly. The closest id get is like a Suzuki Gladius. But thats only because it reminds me of a Ducati Monster. BTW the monster is a nice bike but too expensive.

Im not worried about top speed. I always seem to ride 5 under when im on bikes so speed isnt an issue.
Its the tourqe that im worried about. I know even on a 125 dirtbike in 5th gear I could pick the front end right up. Being only 155lbs torque is what scares me.
