Figured I'd share in here too.

Luckily the flash didn't make her jump.. With my old 35mm Nikon I could have done this from a few feet away, but the digital doesn't let you use MACRO and zoom in, I had to be within inches to get these pictures.

Great shots Bob......:yay:

I caught one in my yard, Sunday morning.

I have her in a mason jar......:nerd:

This is no bug, but there is a daddy long leg! I have never seen this kind with all the spots. He was quite handsome.
Sorry the photo isn't the best quality. I snapped it quick before he got away!
Anyone know what kind this is?

and survived to tale the tale.....In the middle of the night after my dream my top sheet had fallen on the floor .so when I picked it up and put it over me I was really nervous there would be a spider running around on it.
Actually just looked up widow spiders and see that there have not ben any lethal deaths in the past 10 years...
Black Widow Spider bites, symptoms and treatment. - DesertUSA

True, a lot of bites occured when we still had outhouses, indoor plumbing is a blessing...

My grandmother was bitten by one when she was 12, it was in her shoe.

Nearly died..said it was the worst pain she had ever been through. Took a week to recover...

Oh bless her.Maybe as your grandmother was only 12 and had a smaller body the venom would have been more potent?
My dad lived in Australia for a few years and they used to have to check the toilet for spiders before using. He loved it there He used to have lizards running over his bedroom walls.Very much near the outback. They moved back to England as his mum (I never got to meet both my grandmas sadly)got poorly and was homesick.
