Just received my tank fill from SMO and was $566.12 for 172.2 gallons. Here in PG County we have an energy tax.

Burch has a similar thing, $25 delivery fee on orders less than 100 gallons or something like that.
Had I read the whole web page, I would've ordered 150 gallons and that $20 would've paid for ~5 gallons. Live and learn. I measured the level and know to order 150 in the future. Hopefully we have a mild winter this year.

Anyone gotten a delivery from Trossbach recently? I've gone through 250 gallons so far and I need at least 150, maybe 200 gallons to feel safe.

Nope! I've been buying from Qdog for quite a while now on automatic delivery, no minimum charged. I'm extremely happy with them!

I started looking into getting oil from them, but was on my phone and rushing to get a delivery before the weekend. They wanted too much info or something. I really don't remember, but have been using Trossbach ever since. Next day delivery and decent pricing. May look into automatic delivery for next season, but completely happy with Trossbach delivering to 2 homes on an as needed basis for now.

With electricity prices skyrocketing and heat pumps running for HOURS due to colder weather, I wonder if a move back to oil will happen for a lot of folks!
We had a new HVAC system installed in 2023...highest SEER rating available. Got rid of the oil burning furnace in the process and now have propane as the backup heat. Still don't have a good handle on the cost...didn't have the propane hooked up last winter and the heat pump alone did great.

Not in this state. Oil and gas heating is slated to be phased out (made illegal) over the next several years.
Really?! How about wood and kerosene heaters? The oil fired hot water furnace in my house is fairly new. I'd hate to have to change it. I'd probably just sell and buy a damned RV.

Just sneakin' around....
I can't imagine being forced to replace any units, more like they will be grandfathered, and any new install or new home will be required to comply. They'd have a riot on their hands otherwise.

I've mentioned my process before. Pellet stove heats the downstairs family room, bedroom, bath, den. The rest of the house is closed off and the oil burner set to 55*. Oil usage is minimal, one bag of pellets per day at these temps at a cost of $5.70 per day. 2-3 days per bag when the temp is around 45*. A very comfortable warm space.
