Right now it is.Shouldn't home heating oil be cheaper per gallon than taxed diesel fuel?
No Dobe's sorry. I just bought 15 gallons diesel for $4.39 today so would be better to have it delivered.TWO things my chilly SoMders

I got a load of oil from SMO last week at $4.739/gallon. Auto delivery.
I have the maintenance contract so auto delivery comes with that. I just checked and we've been with SMO with a contract since Oct................1987.I don't want auto delivery so I end up paying more .
It's not my house and the owner wanted me to pay 50% for the maintenance contract and I did for a while ( so I could get emergency service when it broke down) until the furnace was replaced then he dropped the contract. It's not been serviced since it was installed years ago. He isn't into maintenance I guess. No one has checked the compressor/fan assembly outside for years either (whatever that thing is called).I have the maintenance contract so auto delivery comes with that. I'd tell you that it's going to break down. My experience with oil burners is that they're much more finicky than gas. When it does break, are you on the hook for repairs? It's not my house and the owner wanted me to pay 50% for the maintenance contract and I did for a while ( so I could get emergency service when it broke down) until the furnace was replaced then he dropped the contract. No I don't pay for repairs but I do what I can to be helpful like reinstall roof shingles that fly off during storms, cut the tree branches overhanging the roof, dispose of downed trees, and few other things. I've been called the best renter ever. I'm old and do not own a home anymore which is a miserable feeling.I'd tell you that it's going to break down. I think all oil home and truck fuel are now all ULSD but I could be wrong.Shouldn't home heating oil be cheaper per gallon than taxed diesel fuel?
Oil is not worth it anymoreI'd tell you that it's going to break down. My experience with oil burners is that they're much more finicky than gas. When it does break, are you on the hook for repairs?
Yes it is, easy to use, not overly dangerous, and a lot of energy when used. Electric is a joke, gas scares the crap out of me especially propane with will find a low space and collect there just waiting for source of ignition.Oil is not worth it anymore
Oil stinks up my house too.Oil is not worth it anymore
I am not comfortable with natural gas or propane either and electric is very expensive.Yes it is, easy to use, not overly dangerous, and a lot of energy when used. PS apparently the pipe from the furnace is leaking at the bends. No wonder my house smells like exhaust I turned off the system until it can be checked professionally since the foil tape did help but the smell is still bad.Oil stinks up my house too.
AND when there was still a stong smell after the pipe was wrapped the furnace installer arrived to find a clogged exhaust pipe. Gee how much damage has been done to my body from that problem?PS apparently the pipe from the furnace is leaking at the bends. That was January 2023. Down to 28.5", so about 13-14 gallons used since then. Looks like I won't be getting fuel anytime soon.Just stuck the tank. Had about 29.5" back in middle October, now have 27". Used about 30-35 gallons so far. Closing off the unused portions of the house and setting the thermostat to 55* works great for saving fuel. Won't have to buy any.
